About us
The Slinger Owls Gridiron Football program is built on tradition, teamwork, and a passion for the game. We are proud to represent the Slinger community by developing strong athletes, disciplined competitors, and confident young leaders—on and off the field.
At Slinger Owls Gridiron Football, football is more than just a sport. It is a platform for teaching life skills such as accountability, perseverance, respect, and sportsmanship. Our coaches are dedicated to creating a positive, structured environment where players can learn the fundamentals of football while growing as individuals.
We focus on:
- Player Development – Teaching proper technique, football IQ, and safe play at every level
- Character & Leadership – Encouraging integrity, teamwork, and responsibility
- Community Pride – Representing Slinger with class, effort, and commitment
- Love of the Game – Fostering a competitive yet fun atmosphere that keeps players engaged
Whether athletes are stepping onto the field for the first time or continuing their football journey, the Slinger Owls provide a supportive environment where every player has the opportunity to improve, compete, and succeed.
Our program thrives because of the dedication of our coaches, families, volunteers, and supporters. Together, we are building a culture of excellence that extends beyond wins and losses.
Go Owls!
Bill Jacklin of Slinger High School named NFL Don Shula High School Coach of the Year
We are proud to be part of a football community led by one of the best in the nation. Slinger High School Head Coach Bill Jacklin was named the NFL Don Shula National High School Coach of the Year (NFC), one of the most prestigious honors in high school football. He was selected as the Green Bay Packers’ nominee and chosen by a national panel that included NFL legends Peyton Manning and Tony Dungy.
This award recognizes more than wins on the field—it honors character, leadership, integrity, and impact on the community, the same values Coach Jacklin brings to his players every day. Under his leadership, Slinger captured the Wisconsin Division 2 State Championship, and our program has become known for its discipline, teamwork, and “All In as One” culture.
Coach Jacklin is a lifelong Slinger resident who calls leading the Owls his dream job. In addition to coaching, he serves as a teacher at Addison Elementary School, further demonstrating his commitment to mentoring and developing young people both in the classroom and on the field. His dedication to building strong athletes and even stronger individuals has helped shape the success of football throughout our entire community—from youth to high school.
We are honored that Slinger Gridiron athletes grow up in a program built on the same standards of excellence, hard work, and pride that define Coach Jacklin’s legacy.
