Player Eligibility
Slinger Gridiron Club
Player Eligibility & Open Enrollment Policy
(Per All-American Youth Football League rules)
Eligibility is based on where you live and where your child attends school.
Step 1: Where Do You Live?
If You Live in the Slinger School District
Your child is eligible to play for SGC regardless of where they attend school, including:
- Slinger Public Schools
- Homeschool
- Any public school
- Any private school
Residency alone makes your player eligible.
If You Do Not Live in the Slinger School District
Eligibility depends on public school attendance, not private schools located inside district boundaries.
Step 2: Where Does Your Child Attend School?
Open Enrolled into Slinger Public Schools
If you live outside the district, your child must:
- Be open enrolled, and
- Attend Slinger Public Schools for two (2) full school years
Only after completing two full years are they eligible to play for SGC.
Examples:
- To play in 5th grade, the player must attend Slinger in 3rd and 4th grade.
- If the player only attended Slinger for 4th grade, they are not eligible until 6th grade.
- If a player open enrolls into Slinger in 5th grade, they become eligible in 7th grade.
This two-year rule continues the same way for all grade levels.
Attending a Private School Located in Slinger (But Living Outside the District)
If a player:
- Lives outside the Slinger School District, and
- Attends a private school located within Slinger district boundaries (such as St. Peter’s),
The player must play for the football club in the district where they live, not Slinger.
If the home district does not have an AAYFL team, the player must join the closest eligible club, which may not be SGC. Families should contact us so we can help confirm eligibility with AAYFL.
Transitioning from Private School to Slinger Public Schools
If a player:
- Lives outside the district,
- Attends a private school, and
- Then open enrolls into Slinger Public Schools,
The player must still complete two (2) full years at Slinger Public Schools before becoming eligible.
Example:
- Attends private school through 5th grade
- Attends Slinger Public Schools in 6th and 7th grade
- Becomes eligible to play for Slinger Gridiron in 8th grade
Bottom Line
If a player does not live in the Slinger School District, they must:
- Be open enrolled, and
- Attend Slinger Public Schools for two full years
Before becoming eligible to play for Slinger Gridiron Club.
If you are unsure about eligibility, please contact us before registering so we can clarify your situation with AAYFL.
Why can't we accept these players?
The Slinger Gridiron Club is required to follow all eligibility rules set by the All-American Youth Football League. These residency and school attendance requirements are mandatory for every member organization.
If SGC allows a player who does not meet AAYFL guidelines, the club could face fines, game forfeitures, league sanctions, or other disciplinary action. Violations could also negatively impact our teams and players.
To protect the integrity of the league and our program, we cannot make exceptions to these rules. Families are encouraged to confirm eligibility before registering to avoid any issues during the season.
